Sunbury State School is where Maryborough’s proud past meets a future-ready education. Many of our families are Sunbury alumni, returning for the welcoming culture and strong sense of belonging that define our school.
We cater for around 200 students from Prep to Year 6, blending the richness of one of Maryborough’s oldest primary schools with contemporary, technology-enabled learning spaces. Our motto, “Learning for Life,” is more than words—it’s our commitment to high expectations, meaningful progress and a love of learning for every student and staff member.
Our student-designed logo says it all: the hands represent helping, support, cooperation, care, friendship and a warm welcome; the Sunbury sun/star reminds us that every learner has the opportunity to shine.
We deliver the Australian Curriculum through engaging, relevant programs in a safe, nurturing environment. Dedicated teachers know each child, set clear goals and track growth closely—so every student is supported to thrive, feel confident and build the skills to succeed long after primary school.
Our key improvement priority is simple and powerful: know every learner deeply, energise every classroom, and amplify every child’s potential—so they leave Sunbury as curious, capable and lifelong learners.
